A 70-year-old flower seller was hit by one of over a dozen motorbikes who were speeding on NH-66 road at Madditolop at about 9.30 am, according to sources. The woman living alone died late Sunday, it was learnt.
The woman reportedly living alone suffered multiple hand and leg injuries and was taken to Canacona Community Hospital.
The woman was reportedly trying to cross the road, when one of motorcycles hit her.
Angry locals have called for strict action against the illegally organised bike races on National Highway especially on the highway section having no dividers.
According to sources, every Saturday and Sunday, swarms of high-end motorcycle riders apparently from Margao and North Goa take to racing on NH-66 road upto Polem, making it difficult to even cross the road.
Locals have urged the Canacona police to take strict measures to stop this menace and help avert further mishaps.
