Flying squads set up in South Goa to stop illegal sand mining

South Goa District Collector, Egna Cleetus, IAS, has informed the public that flying squads have been set up at the taluka level to stop illegal sand mining. In a statement, the Collector said that government officers, including Deputy Collectors, Mamlatdars, Talathis and Police personnel, have been directed to monitor and take legal action against such cases.

The Collector has appealed to the public to report illegal sand mining by calling or sending WhatsApp messages (up to 30 words, with photos) to the flying squad contacts: Salcete Mamlatdar 7066120766, Quepem Mamlatdar 7972087735, Ponda Mamlatdar 8766563700, Canacona Mamlatdar 9579858718, Dharbandora Mamlatdar 9356894541, Sanguem Mamlatdar 7822069067 and Mormugao Mamlatdar 8767841963.

Alternatively, complaints can be lodged with the South Goa District Control Room at 0832-2794100.
