Focus on defunct CCTVs in Sanguem

sanguem

The recent brutal murder of a Margao jeweller has led to growing demands among people in Sanguem to replace and maintain CCTV cameras, which had been installed at key locations in the town about a decade ago.According to locals, the CCTVs were installed by MP Francisco Sardinha in many parts of Sanguem during his previous term as part of the MPLAD scheme.

After Sardinha was defeated in the Lock Sabha elections, the CCTV cameras eventually fell into disuse even though these cameras had assisted law enforcement agencies, including police and RTO in Sanguem town. These CCTV cameras are now out of order and to make matters worse only a few businesses have their own CCTVs outside their premises.

“The CCTVs must be functional and need to be repaired urgently,” said a local Ravindra Naik.MP Francisco Sardinha has now been requested to get these CCTVs working, in the interest of maintaining law and order in the port town.
