MARGAO
Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and officials of the PWD, GSIDC and the Konkan Railway Corporation carried out a joint inspection at Rawanfond on Monday to ensure that the KR’s new track does not come in the way of the proposed six-lane road overbridge.
The inspection was arranged in view of the decision of the Konkan Railway to lay a new track and to demarcate the railway and the property acquired by the PWD.
The Margao MLA later told the media that the inspection was arranged to ensure that the proposed railway track does not come in the way of the ROB.
“We had discussed the matter with the railways and it has been decided that both the track as well as the ROB will be built at the site,” he added.
Officials pointed out that the GSIDC will change the design of the ROB, constructing a single span as against three spans proposed at the proposed bridge site.
Sources said it has also been decided that the KRC will leave the storm-water drain outside the compound wall so that the space can be developed as a pedestrian footpath for the people.
