The autopsy conducted on the body of Allister Vaz has reportedly revealed that the 18-year old footballer died due to cranial cervical damage caused due to blunt force impact.
Fatorda police station in-charge, PI Kapil Nayak, informed that the police have initiated an inquiry into the incident wherein the young footballer had collapsed on the ground during a football match at Fatorda on Sunday. He was later declared brought dead at a city private hospital.
“The post-mortem examination report received by the police has revealed that the footballer has died due to cranial cervical damage caused due to blunt force impact. The police are investigating the case,” PI Kapil informed.
The police have so far recorded the statements of four persons, including the statement of the tournament organizer and some players.
To a question, PI Kapil said the family members of the deceased footballer have so far not lodged any complaint in connection with the death. “The inquiry into the episode is in progress. So far, we have not received any complaint from the family members of the deceased. The police will take appropriate action if any complaint is received from the family members of the deceased,” he added.
To another question on the complaint lodged by Camilo Barretto, president of the South Goa ST Association in this respect, PI Kapil said that the police will act only in the event the family members lodge a complaint.
