MARGAO
A boat which has drifted ashore at Mobor-Cavelossim is now anchored at the beach.
The Betul Coastal police station is reportedly verifying details about the boat which had drifted on the beach around 10-15 days ago.
When The Goan contacted Cuncolim police station in-charge, PI Tukaram Chawan, who is holding additional charge of Colva police station, he said the Colva police is not involved in the inquiry, adding that the coastal police is looking into the boat.
Sources, however, said that the coast guard and the police have gathered information and have verified details over the boat.
Sources informed that a ship was heading to Gujarat from an African country for breaking when the lifeboat got detached and landed in the sea.
The lifeboat later drifted towards the Konkan region and was spotted off Vengurla by the Coast Guard.
A police officer said the boat later drifted towards Goa before it was spotted off Mobor-Cavelossim.
The police said the Captain of Ports has since been requested to tow away and dispose of the lifeboat.
