Colva police have detained a two-wheeler following a complaint that a foreign national was seen riding the vehicle with its registration number covered by using bandage tape.

According to police sources, the rider allegedly covered the number plate to conceal the vehicle’s identity while travelling without a helmet, thereby attempting to evade detection for traffic violations. The incident came to light after concerned citizens alerted authorities about the suspicious modification to the number plate.

Police Inspector Vikram Naik confirmed that an investigation was promptly initiated, leading officers to trace the registered owner of the two-wheeler to Calangute.

Naik further stated that the matter will be referred to the transport department to determine whether the vehicle owner was legally authorised to rent out the two-wheeler. Authorities are also examining potential violations under the Motor Vehicles Act, including tampering with registration details and failure to comply with safety regulations.
