A foreign tourist was detained for blocking vehicles and disrupting traffic on the main road at Newwada in Morjim on Tuesday.
According to locals, the incident took place when a two-wheeler driven by the foreigner and another two-wheeler collided with each other on the road. While no injuries were reportd, both two-wheelers were lying on the road.
The foreigner then began stopping traffic on the road and even allegedly attempted to manhandle some people when asked to move aside. On being informed of the commotion, a Pernem police team went to the site, cleared the fallen vehicles and took the tourist into custody.
Following this incident, locals reiterated their complaints regarding loud music being played overnight at a club in Morjim. They stated that the music caused a nuisance, particularly during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival when bhajans and aartis were being performed in households.
Locals have requested the police and relevant authorities to investigate the road incident, as well as to address the complaints regarding the loud music played at night.
