“Every day it gets worse -- waste dumps on the internal road from Gulem to Agonda. This has to stop,” is what a foreign national posted on social media with pictures of garbage and cattle, crows and flies feasting on it.

Alex Carpenter, a foreign national, who is well known as a snake catcher and rescuer, blamed the local bodies for not taking steps to stop the poisoning of Goa and its reputation.

Carpenter posted, “Every day the situation is getting worse. Soon nothing will be left to see, except plastic. This has to stop, otherwise the economy of this area will sink under a sea of plastic and waste.”

He added further, “I don’t think the NGO Goenkar should clean this up. I think people should agitate and tell the authorities to take some action, so there is a solution.

Carpenter is the co-founder of The Tribe Goa having interests in snakes and plants. He has been living in Agonda since 2015 and is also closely associated with the NGO Goenkar, which is engaged in maintaining cleanliness and greenery of Canacona taluka.
