Residents of Dhagwal-Raia have decided to intensify their agitation against what they termed the illegal development of land for the proposed housing colony of retired policemen.
The residents have now called for a meeting at the site on Monday morning to question the officials of the Forest and TCP over their failure to reign in the violators.
The residents contended that they are convinced that the massive hill cutting in Survey no 321/1 in Dhagwal has been carried out in a completely illegal manner without obtaining the mandatory permissions from the concerned departments such as Forest department, TCP and the South Goa Collector.
The residents lamented that the concerned departments did not take the matter seriously despite the fact that complaints were lodged with the authorities from time to time.
Apart from the land development with the help of heavy machinery, the residents had objected to the widening of the road heading to the property without legal permissions.
Though the Raia panchayat had issued a stop work order to the policemen heading the policemen housing cooperative society, work was carried out in defiance of the panchayat stop work order.
What has made the villagers agitated is the attitude of the various authorities as they only turned a blind eye to the activity despite the panchayat’s stop work order.
