MARGAO: Forest department officials on Tuesday firmly ruled out the possibility of a crocodile killing a woman on Monday while crossing the Sal rivulet at the Dongorim-Aquem Baixo village.
Range Forest Officer Eusebio Braganza along with animal lover Julio Quadros, who visited the site for the second time on Tuesday morning, interrogated the woman, who had claimed that she had seen a crocodile pulling another woman while crossing the water on Monday morning.
Officials said they found no truth in the version of the woman and also stated that they could not find any evidence in the water to suggest that a crocodile had pulled the woman inside.
Sources in the know said Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who was in Navelim, also inquired with the Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado, and the forest officials, who were present around, ruled out the possibility of any killing.
Margao police also stated that there’s no missing report filed by any person till date in respect of any missing woman either from Dongorim or Aquem Baixo village.
