Former Dy CM Narvekar joins AAP, praises party

Former Deputy Chief Minister Dayanand Narvekar on Wednesday joined the Aam Aadmi Party, even as he heaped praises on the party calling it a well-structured one. 

Dayanand Narvekar a five-time MLA has been a former CM, finance minister and Goa’s youngest Speaker apart from holding many cabinet posts in the past. 

Narvekar was first voted to power from the Tivim constituency from 1977–1989.  He served as the speaker of the Assembly from 1985 to 1989. 

Adv Surel Tilve, Vice President, AAP and Ponda Assembly Incharge welcomed and introduced Dayanand Narvekar. “It is a great privilege to have Dayanand Narvekar, who holds years of experience in governance. His experience will be a great asset to AAP.”

Speaking on the occasion, Narvekar said, “The AAP is a well-structured party which is appealing. AAP’s work is well known both nationally and internationally. I am very impressed by the schemes and works carried out in Delhi which Arvind Kejriwal showed me.” 

“If we talk just about the work in education, Kejriwal government’s schools are considered the best in the country even when compared to private schools. I’m thankful to AAP for giving me a platform to work and be of service for the next five,” Narvekar added.

AAP Senior Vice President Mahadev Naik said, “I am very happy today that someone who has worked for so many years decided to join AAP. Narvekar is a great orator and has a huge following in Goa. I look forward to working closely with him.”
