MARGAO
The Margao Urban Health Centre on Wednesday conducted an anti-malaria drive in Ward no eight of the Margao Municipal Council.
The team, equipped with insecticides and machines went round the houses across the ward to check for mosquito breeding sites.
Margao Municipal Ward Councillor Camilo Barretto, who accompanied the health team, said the team cleared abandoned tyres from various places. The teams found some breeding sites of mosquitoes which could have caused vector borne diseases in the ward”, he said.
Members of the team also educated the people on the precautionary measures they should adopt at home -- ensure there’s no water accumulation under the flower pots to prevent them from becoming breeding sites.
