PANAJI
Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) mentor and former Goa RSS chief Subhash Velingkar announced that he himself will enter the fray for the May 19 bypoll in Panaji as a candidate of the Manch. Addressing a press conference on Friday, Velingkar said he will campaign on basic amenities for the city as well as the issue of casinos which he said has led to rampant drug abuse and prostitution. Velingkar, who is credited with mentoring most of the top BJP leaders in Goa for over two decades including the late Manohar Parrikar, Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik, former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and several others, took on the ruling party saying the GSM requested him to contest in Panaji to remove it from the control of the party which has become corrupt.
