Former Sancoale ZP member joins AAP

In a big boost to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the Assembly elections, former Sancoale ZP member and vice-president of Dabolim BJP mandal Vasant Gopi Naik from Chicolna-Bogmalo joined the party along with about 120 of his supporters.
Naik joined AAP at a meeting held in Velsao Panchayat hall on Thursday.
The National Secretery of the AAP Pankaj Gupta and local AAP member Fr Michael Fernandes, Karl Vaz and Olencio Simoes were present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, although the party is yet to name the candidate for Cortalim Assembly constituency, there are strong rumours that the four-time Colva ZP member Nelly Rodrigues is also likely to join the party in the coming days. In fact Nelly who has already announced her plans to contest from Cortalim was spotted at Zuari Nagar when the Delhi Health Minister had visited the Zuari Nagar slums recently.
In fact AAP has also made inroads in the neighbouring Nuvem constituency wherein many people from Verna, Utorda and other neighbouring villages are joining the party. AAP has also been holding corner meetings in an apparent bid to woo the voters ahead of the Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the GRE joint secretary who is also an AAP member said the party would announce the manifesto for the fishermen in the next 15 to 20 days.
