The police said they have booked Stanley Pereira, Ganpath Shetye and two other inmates under Sections 323, 328, 384, 504, 506 (ii) read with 34 IPC.

The convict Milton George was allegedly forced to drink the phenyl by the four accused after which he was rushed to the Goa Medical College for medical attention.
Milton, a convict in an accident case, told the police in his complaint when he was out on parole to attend his sister’s wedding, Stanley and Ganpath demanded Rs 10,000 from him, which he paid. The amount, he said, was paid to a person not from within the jail.
After some days he received another call from the two asking to pay Rs 15,000 to another person, also not from the jail.
Police said when George when went back to the jail on May 27 after his parole ended, the two accused demanded a sum of Rs 50,000, which the complainant refused to pay stating that he did not have such a huge amount.
Milton said late Monday evening, as he was outside his cell, about four people came from behind and covered his face with a blanket and forcefully made him drink phenyl. During the struggle Milton heard the voice of Pereira and Shetye and two other persons.
George was rushed to GMC on Monday night and a complaint was filed with Mormugao Police on Tuesday. He also handed over his mobile phone to the police to verify the phone numbers.
