9 bodies elected unopposed, Canacona witnesses contest
The newly-elected managing committee of the Chinchinim Comunidade in the elections held on Sunday.

The process of elections for the comunidade bodies in South Zone kicked off on Sunday with elections for four bodies going abegging for lack of quorum.
While the managing committees of nine comunidade bodies were elected unopposed, Canacona Comunidade was the lone comunidade which saw a contest for the managing committee.
Comunidade officials informed that elections for the comunidade bodies of Chandor, Sarzora and Assolna in Salcete, besides Jacqui Nundem Comunidade body in Sanguem could not take place for lack of quorum.
Officials further informed that the managing committees of the comunidade bodies of Cavelossim, Colva, Majorda, Cortalim, Provincia de Balli, Aquem, Loutolim, Rivona and Chinchinim were elected unopposed.
Comunidade de Loutulim: The following members were elected on the managing committee for the period 2025-2027. Blaise Britto (President) and Franky Monteiro (Substitute president), Ramiro Mascarenhas (Attorney), Erol Jorge (Substitute attorney), Allwyn Mascarenhas (Treasurer) and Substitute treasurer — Joaquim Monteiro.
As far as the Aquem Comunidade is concerned, the following were elected unopposed to the Managing Committee of Comunidade of Aquem for triennium 2025-2028. Savio Joaquim Filipe Correia (President), Celestino Noronha (Attorney) and Merwin Leopoldo Cruz (Treasurer).
The Managing committee for the Chinchinim Comunidade was also elected
unopposed. The managing committee comprises of Agnelo Furtado (President), Olencio Almeida (Attorney) and Saadia Furtado (Treasurer). Savio Cotta (Substitute President), Crisanto Fernandes (Substitute Attorney) and Cyril Leitão (Treasurer).
Savio Correia elected to managing committee for 9th consecutive term
MARGAO: Newly-elected president of Communidade of Aquem Savio Correia may create a record of sorts after his election on Sunday.
For, this is the ninth consecutive term that he has been elected to the Managing Committee of a comunidade.
In the past, Correia was elected as President, Attorney and Special Attorney of Comunidade of Verna for various terms. He was the president of the Comunidade of Margao for five terms, which office he still holds at present.
Incidentally, after his election as the president of Aquem Comunidade, this will be Correia’s fourth term as President of Comunidade of Aquem.
