The issue of MRF facility and the site for the construction of a road over bridge by the railways took the centre stage at the gram sabha of the Majorda village panchayat on Sunday.
At the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Anthea Pereira on Sunday, members raised the contentious issue over the construction of the MRF facility metres away from the railway tracks and in a low-lying field.
The members demanded that the panchayat shelve the proposal to set up the MRF facility at the site. The sarpanch, however, maintained that the issue of MRF facility is being monitored by the High Court, adding that the panchayat may be hauled up for contempt of court.
The sarpanch said that members can file an intervention petition in the High Court and draw attention of the High Court over the MRF facility.
Some of the members of the gram sabha inspected the MRF site and pointed out that the work has just reached the state of wall construction and not 70 per cent as is claimed by the panchayat.
Meanwhile, the question of building a road over bridge over the railway tracks by the Railways also figured at the meeting. The sarpanch told the members that the panchayat has received a proposal from the Railways in respect of a road over bridge at Majorda.
When some of the members demanded a road over bridge at Utorda, the sarpanch replied saying the panchayat would place the demand before the railway authorities.
