United Club of Verna secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Don Bosco Oratory to advance to the finals of the All-Goa Inter-Village Football Tournament, organised by the United Club of Utorda in memory of the late Nicholas Rodrigues. The match was held at the SAG Ground in Utorda. The only goal of the match came in the 53rd minute, courtesy of Stephen Satarkar, who scored from a quickly taken corner kick. His delivery curved into the net, deceiving everyone, including the Don Bosco defenders, to put United Club in the lead.

Despite the setback, Don Bosco Oratory fought valiantly but were unable to convert their chances, missing several opportunities throughout the game. Both teams displayed excellent play, with the match being highly competitive from start to finish. Stephen Satarkar’s match-winning performance earned him the Man of the Match award, which was presented by chief guest Andrew Ferrao, an executive member of the Goa Football Association.

SC Davorlim to face Santa Cruz in UCT Trophy inaugural match

Sporting Club of Davorlim will take on Santa Cruz Sports Club Poitomoto in the inaugural match of the UCT Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament on December 9. The tournament, organised by the United Club of Telaulim, will be held at the Telaulim Village School Grounds. Several top teams will compete in the 9-a-side tournament, including Parish Youth Nuvem, United Club of Benaulim, Fr Agnel Paroda, Arlem Youth, Guardian Angels Sports Club, Carmona, Maina Sports Club, Ambelim Sports Club, Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda, UB Ambaulim, Guirdolim Club, Socio Club of Loutolim, and Betalbatim Sporting Club, with the host team, United Club of Telaulim. The winners of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a trophy, while the runners-up will take home Rs 40,000 and a trophy. In addition, several individual prizes will be awarded for outstanding performances throughout the competition.

Betalbatim SC down St Rock's in Martin's Cup

Betalbatim Sports Club secured a hard-fought 4-1 victory over St Rock's Sports Club Majorda in a thrilling tiebreaker to advance to the quarterfinals of the 7th Martin's Cup Football Tournament. The match, organised by Betalbatim Sporting Club, took place at the Panchayat Ground in Betalbatim on Sunday. St Rock's Majorda took the lead in the 15th minute through Oscar, with the scoreline remaining 1-0 in their favour at halftime. However, Betalbatim came out stronger in the second half, with Keith Rodrigues netting the equaliser in the 35th minute of play. The match then proceeded to a tiebreaker, where Betalbatim converted through Joel D'Silva, Aniston, Keith Rodrigues, and Gladson. For St Rock's Majorda, Oscar was the only player to score during the shootout. Milton D'Souza was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Goa triumph in inaugural Goa-Madurai Friendship Badminton Trophy

The Goa badminton team clinched a thrilling victory in the inaugural Goa-Madurai Friendship Trophy, in a first-of-its-kind friendship series. Led by former State champion Navneet Nasnodkar, the team included stalwarts like Floyd Araujo, Fredrick Fernandes, Parag Chauhan, Dattaprasad Parab, and Darwin Barreto, alongside other talented players in the 20-member squad. Navneet, who spearheaded the initiative to foster camaraderie through sports, expressed plans for a reciprocal visit to Madurai and other destinations, strengthening ties and sportsmanship between sportspersons.
