The Colva police arrested four persons in connection with the slaughtering of cattle at the Seraulim bandh on Tuesday afternoon.
The four persons have been booked under the provisions of Cruelty to Animals Act, Goa Animal Preservation Act and the relevant offenses under the Goa, Daman and Diu Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act.
The police action came after a group of residents inhabiting the Seraulim bandh found that cattle were illegally slaughtered on the bandh despite objections.
Pointing out they could not nail down the accused in the past since they had no proof about their illegal activity, the local residents said they found live meat at the place from the illegal slaughter of cattle.
Colva PI Melson Colaco informed that the four persons Shabir Bepari, Husain Bepari, Sharuk Bepari and Wasim Bepari were arrested on the complaint lodged by Tejas Parwar stating that the accused were a slaughterhouse without any permissions.
