Four held in online betting racket
SALIGAO: Porvorim Police arrested four men from Lucknow-UP and seized cash of Rs 6.50 lakh and other items, after busting a betting racket for an IPL match at a hotel in Porvorim.
The accused have been identified as Indersen Gayana (40), Niraj Gupta (30), Suresh Kumar (55) and Pawan Kumar (60).
Acting on information that betting was going on for the match between Kolkatta Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in a closed room at a hotel, police obtained a search warrant and conducted the raid.
The raid was conducted by DySP Albuquerque, Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi and PSI Durbhatkar.
Cash of Rs 6.50 lakh, nine mobile phones, calculator and other material used for betting have been recovered by police.
The accused were arrested and kept in police lock up. Police is investigating the case.
