Four held in theft case, goods worth Rs 18 L recovered

Four persons including three minors were arrested for theft and goods worth Rs 18 lakh was recovered from them, Mapusa Police informed.

According to police, on August 17 a robbery was reported from a house belonging to a film director in Parra.

The four accused effected entry into the house late in the night when the owners was asleep and escaped with two mobile phones, I-pod, cameras and five camera lenses.

Police informed that the entire incident was captured on the CCTV cameras.

“It was a blind case as all the accused were never involved in any other crimes before. Full credit to our police staff who worked very hard for three days to detect the case,” said Mapusa PI Paresh Naik.

He said a camera, lenses and a mobile phone worth Rs 18 lakh was recovered from the accused.

Police informed that one accused, Jevel Shaikh, residing at Agarvadddo, Calangute but a native of West Bengal was arrested while the other three minors were lodged in the Apna Ghar.

Mapusa Police is investigating further.
