A Nigerian national, overstaying her visa in India, has been arrested for allegedly peddling party drugs into Goa via rail worth around Rs 15 lakh.
The 27-year-old identified as Damilola Janet Odula hid MDMA in her sandals but a successful trap by Crime Branch (CB) sleuths cut short her plans to sell the consignment to her clients.
Sources said the woman was reportedly on her maiden visit to Goa with the consignment meant for distributing at parties along the beach belt.
Primary investigation has revealed that her tourist visa expired on August 4. "We are verifying the documents," an official said adding, "We will interrogate her to know which beachside parties or nightclubs were on her list to sneak in the narcotics, and who were her clients."
The investigation team will also probe whether the foreigner had visited Goa earlier and where she planned to stay during her current visit. Her contacts, sources said, have also come under the radar.
The Nigerian was arrested soon after she alighted from a Delhi-bound train on Sunday. The CB team has seized 151 gms of party drugs from her possession, the value of which is estimated at around Rs 15.10 lakh.
She is booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and was later produced before the magistrate for remand.
