Four restaurant employees sustained minor injuries after a gas balloon, installed at the entrance, burst on Saturday. Although the injured persons did not file complaints, the Anjuna police took a suo-motu under 'other accidents' and began an investigation.
Details shared by Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi stated that the incident occurred at 3:30 pm when the staff was lowering the gas balloon.
"The staff of Dubki Restaurant was lowering the Gas Balloon installed by Noise Restaurant at the entrance of the Dubki Restaurant during which the balloon burst and the four staffers of Dubki Restaurant were injured," he said.
S K Ismail, aged 23 years and a native of West Bengal, Sanjay Kumar (25) from Bihar, Ashok Chaudhary of Mumbai and Nakul Das (49) from Odisha were shifted to District Hospital Mapusa for medical treatment.
While Das has been discharged, the other three are undergoing medical treatment at GMC Bambolim.
"Statement of all four injured persons has been recorded wherein all of them stated that as the said Balloon was installed for a long time at the entrance of their restaurant, they decided to lower it. The balloon burst and they were injured. They also stated that they also do not have any complaint against any person," Dalvi said adding that Anjuna Police has acted swiftly and registered Other Accident case.
"Anjuna Police is probing into the matter and if any negligence is found on any part, necessary action will be initiated," the officer added.
