Sporting Clube steamroll YBT; Panjim Footballers hold Geno

A fine brace piece from striker Francisco Fernandes and Lloyd Cardozo quelled Young Boys of Tonca Sports Club challenge as Sporting Clube de Goa took home all three points in a 8-0 rout, in the GFA Goa Professional League, at SAG Trinity ground, Benaulim, on Saturday.

The Flaming Oranje started brightly and the breakthrough came in the 18th minute when striker Llyod Cardozo pulled off a shot which crashed into the net.

Against the run of play, it was Sporting Clube de Goa who double the lead when Brandon Rohan Rodrigues pulled off a stunner find the net in the 20th minute. Francisco Fernandes who played a stellar role, unleashed a shot that found the roof the net in the 28th minute. At the stroke of lemon break ,Francisco Fernandes once again found the far corner of the net with a brilliant shot.

The second half started on a frenzied state as four goals came in 45 minutes. It started with the Flaming Oranje extending their lead quickly within two minutes of resumption when substitute Akeeraj Martins made it 5-0. Midfielder Joyson Gaunkar managed to increase the lead off a well measured cross from Francisco Fernandes in the 58th minute. Lylod Cardozo scored a brace in the 75th minute.

In the final moments of the game, substitute Ivon Costa put the game to bed.

In Nagoa, Panjim Footballers were held to a 1-1 draw by Geno FC. Ajay Raj put Panjim ahead in the 23rd minute, but Aryan Singh Chauhan equalized with a late penalty to earn a point for Geno.

In the Second Division League, UB Ambaulim edged Carmel SC 3-2 in a match with yellow cards and red cards galore. Aivao YC fell 1-0 to Agassaim YC in a tight clash while Pilerne SC crushed Dunes SC 8-2 in a goal-fest, Utkarsh G scoring a quick brace.

In the GFA U15 Khelo India Girls Quitula SCC edged Eagles SC 2-1.

Meanwhile in the GFA U-15 Division II League, Miracles Sports Club beat Saligao SC 3-1.

Sinquerim SC earned a walkover victory against Goa United.

Siddheshwar SCC defeated CSM de Taleigao 2-0.
