The Tourism department, in coordination with the Calangute police and other government agencies, on Wednesday demolished four unauthorised beach-front structures at Calangute beach.
The action was carried out in compliance with directions issued by the High Court, with authorities removing the illegal structures along the beach stretch. A strong police presence was maintained during the demolition drive to ensure law and order and prevent any untoward incidents. The operation was conducted peacefully under the supervision of officials from the departments concerned. The drive is part of the authorities’ efforts to enforce court orders and curb illegal constructions along Goa’s coastline.
Officials, however, did not immediately reveal details about the ownership of the demolished structures or whether further action would be taken against those responsible for the unauthorised constructions.
