In yet another case of land fraud amid ongoing probe into at least 50 such cases by Goa Police’s Special Investigation Team, four residents of Porvorim are charged with impersonating government employees and forging documents for illegally possessing a plot in the Communidade of Serula.
Complainant Ankit Madhu Salgaonkar from Anjuna alleged that the foursome with their common intention to get possession of a landed plot belonging to the Communidade impersonated its clerk, in-charge/Upper Division Clerk.
“They prepared valuable documents by forging the contents, signature on certificate by using counterfeit stamps and thereafter dishonestly used forged certificates as genuine before authorities during documentary transaction concerning the plot number 08 in survey number 138/1 of village Penha de France. They also succeeded in transferring the rights of the land and cheated the authorities,” the FIR against, Aparna Halornekar, Ankush Halornekar, Peter Martin and Vijayanand Shirodkar states.
While no arrest has been made so far, the Mapusa police are also probing the possible nexus of any Communidade staff into the fraud.
