Four vehicles were destroyed when a garage in Mangor-Vasco caught fire in the wee hours of Monday.
While the Vasco Fire Services doused the blaze, the garage owner Mohammed Ishan has suspected arson and involvement of miscreants in the incident.
"We received a call at about 5.30 am, and we noticed vehicles on fire near the garage opposite the Ambabai Temple in Mangor Hill. We immediately doused the fire, but by that time, four vehicles were destroyed in the blaze. The losses are estimated at Rs 5 lakh, and the cause of the fire is still unclear," said fire official Vivekanand Bhatkar
The garage owner Mohammed Ishaan also filed a complaint at the Vasco police station.
According to Ishaan, three two-wheelers and one four-wheeler were destroyed in the fire.
"Someone deliberately set these vehicles on fire because some vehicles did not even have engines, batteries or fuels and there is no scope of a short circuit.”
“One of the vehicles belonged to me and has been there for around five years. I had given the garage on rent and I was to start the garage on my own in a few months.”
“The engines were removed and kept inside the vehicles. Those who had their bikes parked and who also faced losses have also complained to the Vasco police to investigate the incident and take strict action against those involved in this incident," said Ishaan.
