In a major step to improve emergency and community welfare services, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Sunday launched a free ambulance, a hearse van and two mobile morgues for residents across the constituency.
The initiative has been launched in association with the Rotary Club of Kolhapur Evolve and the Rotary Club of Vasco Port Town.
The services will be available free of cost to the public, ensuring timely help during medical emergencies and support for families during difficult times.
To make the services easily accessible, Amonkar also launched a dedicated 24x7 helpline number — 9706333108 — through which residents can seek assistance at any time.
Addressing the gathering, Amonkar described the initiative as an important milestone in public service.
He said it aims to fill a critical gap in emergency healthcare and mortuary support in the constituency.
He noted that quick medical transport can often make the difference between life and death during emergencies.
“Ambulance services play a vital role in saving lives. Timely medical intervention during the golden hour is critical for patients involved in accidents, cardiac emergencies and other life-threatening situations. This service has been introduced to ensure that people receive immediate help when they need it most,” said Amonkar.
