The Rising Club of Sanvorcotto in association with the Department of Art and Culture as well as Tiatr Academy of Goa will be presenting the 13th edition of the Annual Free Summer Tiatr Festival on April 22 at 7 pm. The tiatr festival is being held in the memory of the late Max Tavares who was fond of tiatr and sponsored as well as acted in tiatrs whenever he was in Goa. "My brother Max who worked in Bahrain was very fond of tiatr and promoted this local art whenever he got an opportunity. Apart from writing tiatr, he acted in tiatr too during the summer. He presented tiatr in May and this year it's his 25th death anniversary," stated Sammy Tavares. The festival that is being held every year is popular and supported wholeheartedly by the youth in the area who work abroad and also by well-wishers of tiatr, stated Tavares. The motive of organising this tiatr festival is to promote the local art and also to entertain the locals free of charge. The festival attracts people not only from Cuncolim but entire Goa, claimed Tavares who has appealed to tiatr lovers to attend the shows in large numbers which will be staged free for the public every evening for nine continuous days.The Summer Tiatr Festival which is beginning on April 22 at Cuncoliem Sanvorcotta with the opening tiatr directed and acted by Mario Menezes' 'Thank You' will be inaugurated at the hands of Fr Jude Coeho of Our Lady of Health Church, Cuncolim in the presence of Dr Prakash Kurade, Effie and Gladston Tavares as well as Mohan Dhond. The nine-day tiatr ceremony which will conclude on April 30, will be celebrated at Naferem, Sanvorcotto at Cuncolim with free tiatr shows for the public and with the added attraction of surprise prizes. John Dias and Jerry Vaz will compare the inauguration ceremony. On April 23 ace comedian Sally will present 'Mhaka Ghoddlam Tem', while on April 24 comedian Ambe's tiatr 'Kuddo, Mono Vo Bhero' will be staged. On April 25 Infant Jesus Production tiatr 'Hanv Goemcho Saiba' will be showcased. On April 26 there will be free shows of tiatr 'Poilo Ghontt' and on April 27 King of triple century tiatr 'Besanv Na Pesanv' and on April 28 John D'Silva's 'Doiall' (kind) will be staged free for the public. The concluding tiatr in the summer festival is Prince Jacob's 'Apunn Apnnank, Dev Somestank'.
