Stating that his focus would be to provide high-speed internet access to households, IT Minister Rohan Khaunte said there is substantial space opposite DIET at Porvorim to set up IT units and create 2,000 jobs.
Khaunte was speaking at Porvorim after launching the second phase of hotmixing covering areas of Nana Nani Park, Krantinagar, Oval Park and surrounding areas in Porvorim.
“Fibre to Home which means the installation and use of optical fibre from a central point directly to individual buildings such as residences, apartment buildings and businesses to provide high-speed internet access, which is of utmost importance these days.”
“During the Covid pandemic, students especially from rural areas faced a lot of difficulties to learn online due to poor internet access. My focus would be to provide Fibre to Home to households.”
“There is substantial space opposite DIET at Porvorim which is ideal to set up IT units. If this space of 12,000 sq mtrs is utilised, 2,000 youths can be provided employment,” said Khaunte.
Commenting on the need to create an ecosystem to attract investors, Khaunte said he would like to create a single-window system so that investors do not encounter problems in getting licenses to start businesses.

‘Goa must be different to attract visitors’
PORVORIM: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has said Goa has to be different from other states to attract more tourists.
“Beach management will be given importance so that quality tourists prefer to visit the beaches of Goa. Dogs, cattle and touts will be under scanner. All stakeholders, Travel and Tourism Association of Goa, shack owners and tourist operators will be taken into confidence while finalising a beach management plan.”
“The main objective is to take Goa at a higher level so that Goa becomes a world-class tourist destination,” said Khaunte.
