Freedom fighter passes away

CANACONA: An 84-year-old freedom fighter from Canacona died on Monday after a brief illness.

According to sources, Harischandra Gopalkrishna Pai of Welwada-Poinguinim was a freedom fighter who took part in Goa’s liberation struggle and was involved in underground freedom struggle activities. The mortal remains will be cremated on Tuesday. Pai is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
