The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) on Monday detained two more foreigners as its crackdown on visa violations in Goa continued, including a Nigerian woman who allegedly overstayed her medical visa for several years. Officials detained the 36-year-old Nigerian, who allegedly continued to stay in India years after her medical visa expired. “She arrived in 2021 on a medical visa that was valid only until later that year, but remained in the country undetected until the FRRO operation,” an official told The Goan. Her passport had also reportedly expired recently.
In a separate case, the FRRO detained a 42-year-old Kenyan woman for allegedly overstaying her tourist visa. She arrived in India in December 2025. Sources said both women were staying at the same hotel in Anjuna, although in separate rooms. Following their detention, the two women were handed over to Anjuna police for legal formalities, including being lodged at detention centre. FRRO last week also took action against nearly half a dozen foreigners allegedly overstaying their visas at different locations in North Goa.
