MARGAO
Fatorda police rushed to Nessai in Sao Jose de Areal on Tuesday following a complaint that stolen plastic fish boxes were being shredded into pieces in a scrapyard before being sold to units.
Fish agents, who were suspecting the involvement of a group of persons in lifting away the empty plastic fish boxes from the Margao wholesale fish market, realized that the same were being transported from the wholesale fish market to the scrapyard to shred into pieces.
A group of vigilant fish agents descended on the scrapyard at Nessai and found to their shock and surprise that the yard had fish boxes belonging to the agents and the boat owners.
They saw the process wherein the plastic boxes were shredded into pieces and stacked in bundles for transportation.
Fatorda PS in-charge, PI Kapil Nayak said they have not registered an FIR in the case after the parties settled the matter amicably.
He said the scrapyard owner has agreed to return the fish boxes back to the agents and others concerned.
