The G. R. Kare College of Law, Margao, is set to launch 'Nyaya Yatra', a pioneering initiative aimed at educating citizens on various social-legal issues.
In alliance with the South Goa District Legal Services Authority and Konkan Railway Corporation, 'NYAYA YATRA' - Journey to Justice, aims to create a legally informed community, enhance justice and transform lives through legal knowledge.
Adv. Pritam Morais, Co-chairman of the Governing Council of G. R. Kare College of Law, who is coordinating the event, explained that under the theme of Nyaya Yatra, the law college will conduct various legal awareness campaigns, which will include display of informative posters creating legal awareness on various socio legal issues like rights of Senior Citizens, Entitlement to Free Legal Aid, Child and Women Protective Legislations, etc.
“Such posters will be displayed at prominent places at the Konkan Railway Stations. The posters will be designed and created by the law students. The law students will also perform skits at public places to raise legal awareness, followed by distribution of informative pamphlets and dissemination of information on various beneficiary schemes”, he said.
Adv. Morais said that the law college is supported in this initiative by the District Legal Services Authority, South Goa, and both the organisations will conduct free workshops on legal issues. The workshops will be conducted on topics like Cyber Crime, Human Rights, Labour Laws, Entitlement of Free Legal Aid, etc.
The program will be launched on Friday, 17th January 2025, at 9.30 am, at the Konkan Railway Station, Margao. The launch event will be graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Adv. Sangram Desai, Chairman, Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa, Ms. Sarika Faldessai, Judicial Member and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Adv. Pravin Faldessai, Deputy Solicitor General of India, Mr. Nitin Kunkolienkar, President of Vidya Vikas Mandal, Dr. Maria Goretti Morais, Officiating Principal of the law college, Adv. Prasad Naik, President of the South Goa Advocates Association and Mr. Ganesh Samant, Senior Regional Traffic Manager, Konkan Railway Traffic Manager.
