CANACONA
The sand has been eroded to such an extent that the hard-hitting waves have taken away a large chunk of sand dunes, thus resulting in craters as deep as 3 metres. The coast extending up to the Maxem creek is mostly hit in the worst way, as many of the Casuariana trees fell like a pack of cards.
Even the main beach, where the lifeguard watch tower exists has also witnessed deep sand erosion and visitors have to take a leap to enter the beach area. Villagers pointed out that this is the annual phenomenon, but this year’s sand erosion is the worst in the l
