Social activist Jose Roque Andrade along with Nuvem Zilla Panchayat member Wilfred D’Sa told the media that they had been approaching the flying squad as well as the TCP, but lamented that there’s no action forthcoming from the authorities concerned. “When we questioned the persons present at the land filling site, they claimed that the filling is being done for the highway. But, we strongly suspect that it is the handiwork of some private party,” the duo said, while saying that the area where mud has been dumped during the last three days constitute a catchment area for the rain water.
What has surprised the local residents is the inaction by the TCP and the
flying squad.
“Officials of the two authorities sought to push the blame on each other for inspection and initiating action against the land filling activity,” Jose Roque Andrade said.
