Ganja worth Rs two lakh seized, youth held in Margao

In a major raid at the KTC bus stand, Margao, the Fatorda police nabbed an accused Mantesh Nevargi (26 yrs), resident of Zuari Nagar, Mormugao and seized 2.05 kg of Ganja worth Rs two lakh.

The accused has been booked under the NDPS Act. 

Acting on a tip off received by PI Kapil Nayak that a person would be coming to the KTC bus stand, Margao to deliver ganja to the prospective customer, a team of the Fatorda police headed by PSI Sarvesh G Bhandari, head constables, Nilesh Kaskar and Mahendra Gaude apprehended the accused. A search carried out on his person revealed that he was in possession of 02.05 kg of ganja, worth Rs two lakh. 

Fatorda police station in-charge, PI Kapil Nayak informed that the accused is being interrogated to find out the source of the narcotic substance.

The seizure of two kilograms of ganja is a major drug seizure effected by the police in Margao police sub-division in recent times, though the police have been maintaining heat on the traffickers.

The accused has been remanded to seven days police custody. The police is conducting further investigations.
