Saying he is not perturbed who are his opponents bracing up to contest against him in Priol, Tribal Welfare Minister Govind Gaude on Thursday said he would announce the party on which he would contest the 2022 Assembly election on January 1.
Speaking on the sidelines of a programme at Rachol, wherein he laid the foundation stone for the community hall cum administrative office building, the Tribal Minister said he has been sympathetic and loyal towards BJP for which he was retained in the Cabinet.
He, however, said he would take a call on the party on which he would contest the ensuing polls after consulting his workers, who have been his backbone over the years.
“I will announce my decision on contesting the coming polls on New Year's day on January 1. I am not at all concerned about who are my rivals in Priol since I have ushered in the development of the constituency. My workers have been my backbone and I will go by the decision of my people”, he asserted.
To a question, he said he had held discussions with the BJP leaders over a host of issues, and one thing is clear that Govind Gaude will contest the ensuing polls.
Earlier, addressing the function at Rachol, Gaude urged members of the tribal community to avail of the 22 welfare schemes meant for them.
“There are around 22 different welfare schemes for the tribal community. We have a scheme funding the coaching classes for the students of the ST community”, he said.
The Minister pointed out that Fr Eremito Rebello and others had pursued the project with the department all this time, assuring the villagers that the project would see the light of the day within the stipulated period.
