The KTC on Saturday started a bus service along the Gaunem-Ponda-Panaji route, benefiting locals who used to walk around 3 kms to avail of bus facilities.

Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar launched the KTC bus service along the Gaunem-Ponda-Panaji route, in the presence of Bandora Sarpanch Ramchandra Naik, KTC General Manager Sanjay Ghate, Devendra Parab and Laxmikant Naik. "We had a problem travelling to Ponda as there was no bus service here. A private bus service operated earlier was stopped by these bus operators as it is a remote area," explained a resident. The KTC bus will depart from Gaunem village at 8 am and will go via Kavale to Ponda. At about at 12.40 pm, this bus will also go from Gaunem to Panaji. Speaking on the occasion, Dhavalikar said the bus service was launched following demands of locals.
