“It is evident that the wild animal entered the village as the plantation was destroyed. According to the locals, they have saw a gaur in the area. We are taking measures,” Range Forest Officer Darajeet Naik told The Goan.
A team of eight forest staff visited Shivade-Dharbandora and conducted the panchnama. The locals have demanded that senior officers should visit the site, failing which they would stage a ‘dharna’, sources informed. Ponda police had written a letter to the Deputy Conservator of Forest on Thursday in this regard.
“We will search for this gaur on Saturday morning,” a forest officer said. The gaur is believed to have attacked Solyenkar, who sustained several  injuries on his stomach, chest and other parts of the body, killing him  at the site.
