CANACONA

An 84-year-old man from Cotigao was reportedly gored to death by a Gaur (Indian bison) in Cotigao on Wednesday.

According to sources, the incident took place as Nagu Janu Velip of Avali-Cotigao had gone to the nearby bushes outside the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary to collect fodder for his cattle.

The man is believed to have been mauled by a Gaur in the vicinity and died at the site.

When contacted, Cotigao Sarpanch Daya Gaonkar, confirmed the incident had taken place on Wednesday and said Velip was killed by a Gaur when he had gone to collect fodder for his cattle.
