GBA calls for meet to discuss ordinance on coastal ODPs

PANAJI

The Goa Bachao Abhiyan (GBA), has denounced the State government’s move to promulgate an ordinance with retrospective effect validating the ODPs of Calangute-Candolim and Arpora-Nagoa-Parra, calling it a cover-up for rampantly illegal actions by ministers and the Chief Town Planners.

In a statement, the GBA said the two ODPs were scrutinised by an SIT in 2022 which noted irregularities that ignored due precedence to zoning and criteria of the Regional Plan-2021. “These criteria (RP 2021) cannot be overwritten by any ODP and therefore the government had suspended the ODPs,” It said, adding that Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik went beyond his jurisdiction in issuing clearances well after the ODPs were suspended.

Meanwhile, the GBA has invited citizens and activists to a meeting at 4.30 pm on Friday at the Institute Piedade hall in Panaji to chalk out the way forward.
