Russian man arrested for residing illegally in India

PANAJI: Mandrem police have arrested a Russian national Ivan Marutiants, aged 34, for residing illegally in India.

SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi informed that the foreigner violated the Foreigners Act 1946 as he didn’t possess valid travel documents. He was arrested after his rented premises at Arambol was searched in his presence.

Dalvi said an FIR under sections 7(1) (3) of Foreigners Order 1948 and Section 14 of Foreigners Act 1946 has been registered against him.
