PORVORIM: The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has decided to make its economic transactions transparent by making 3 layer auditing system, by posting the activities of the GCA on website and by carrying out the administration as per the rules of business.
In a news conference at Porvorim after completion of Annual General Body Meeting, GCA President Suraj Lotlikar stated that the general body has unanimously given consent for the appointment of Chirag Kenkre & Associates as the Internal Auditor of GCA and to retain Manikarao Patil as Statutory Auditor.
"The BCCI auditor will be external auditor. Further, the details of the administration like organisational chart, audited accounts, payments, recruitment rules and appointments, business rules, tenders, etc, will be posted on active website of GCA."
"The general body has also approved the ‘Rules of Business' in the AGM and henceforth all the business of GCA will be transacted as per ‘Rules of Business'. All these steps will bring transparency in GCA's administration," said Lotlikar.
Lotlikar further said the State government has given GCA land admeasuring 1.89 lakh sq mtrs at Dhargal on lease basis for 99 years for the construction of Cricket stadium of international standard.
"GCA proposes to build a stadium on ‘Bid, Operate and Transfer' basis or on their own if no party comes forward to construct it. The BCCI will provide finance to the tune of Rs 75 crore and this amount will be released by them in installment depending on the progress of work."
"The GCA has also planned to develop seven grounds for the youth to play Cricket, out of which some grounds will be their own and remaining grounds will be taken on lease basis. Out of the land admeasuring 2.90 lakh sq mtrs acquired earlier at Bicholim for cricket stadium, 30,000 sq mtrs will be retained by GCA and remaining land will be sold out," informed Lotlikar.
Commenting on the performance of the GCA Cricket team in Ranji Trophy, Lotlikar said it has been very dismal. "GCA has now decided to give more thrust on the youth in the age group of 14, 16 and 19 so that in the years to come the GCA will get good players to play in Ranji Trophy."
"In the meantime, GCA has decided to send 24 players in the age group of 14, 16 and 19 to the cricket Academy at Hyderabad for improvement in their techniques. It has also been decided to appoint a selection committee from the GCA members and no members of the managing committee will be part of selection committee," said Lotlikar.
