The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa observatory has repeated its “heavy rainfall” warning saying a developing ‘low pressure’ area over north and central Bay of Bengal could trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in the State until September 10.
The Goa weather monitoring station said monsoon activity “may strengthen” over Goa and South Konkan with the expected formation of low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
It also said very heavy rainfall is likely in some places in the State on Monday and Tuesday, adding that the likelihood of ‘heavy rainfall’ -- 64.5“115.5 mm in 24 hours -- continues over both the districts for a week from Monday.
The weatherman had put Goa on an ‘Orange Alert’ since Saturday last up until September 7 and the State’s deficit rainfall in August has more than been made up in the first few days of September.
Goa has thus far received 108 inches of rains since the south-west monsoon set in on June 1.
