CANACONA
The Goa Forward Party has sharply criticised some actions of one Canacona policeman on polling day in Canacona and said it would lodge a formal complaint with senior police officials in the matter.
In a press note, GFP General Secretary and Party Spokesperson Prashant Naik said a policeman misbehaved at the Bhagatwada booth and caught the collar of one Congress worker.
“This is highly deplorable. He even threatened Congress and GFP workers by entering houses while they were having tea and snacks,” alleged Naik.
Naik also alleged that the policeman had misbehaved with media persons at Chaudi and even threatened to take action against media personnel covering the elections.
“A delegation from the opposition will shortly call on top police officials to lodge a formal complaint against the policeman,” stated the press note.
Sources said the same policeman had allegedly been targeting supporters and well-wishers of non-BJP candidates.
“The policeman would verbally summon them to the police station and make them sit in the police station for hours since the last 5 days and even on election day,” said the source.
