In a significant political development, the State Executive Committee of the Goa Forward Party on Saturday resolved to immediately move towards an alliance with like-minded secular political forces to unitedly defeat the BJP in the February 2027 Goa Assembly elections.

Though the statement issued by the party did not name the political party or parties with whom the regional party will enter into an electoral alliance, the meeting assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of reports that the Goa Forward Party and the Aam Aadmi Party are expected to jointly announce the plan of alliance of like-minded political parties on Sunday.

The meeting further assumes significance against the backdrop of hoardings erected on the State highways bearing logos of the Goa Forward Party and the Aam Aadmi Party.

The message conveyed from the Goemkar Ghor, the party headquarters after the meeting of the State Executive Committee was clear and simple “Goa First – before party, before politics and before personal ambitions.

“This Chovoth, we will strive to give the people of Goa a united alternative — one that puts Goa first, protects Goemkarponn, and stands firmly against corruption, communalism and the politics of defection,” the meeting further resolved.

It added: “May Lord Ganesha give Goans the wisdom to unite, put Goa First, defeat the corrupt and communal BJP, and ensure that the defectors get no chance to score a hat-trick.”

Chaired by Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai, the meeting discussed the prevailing political situation in the State and the fast approaching elections for the Goa Legislative Assembly.

The party chief is believed to have explained on the decision to float the Goa First alliance platform for all like-minded political parties to come under one banner and unitedly fight the BJP in the coming husting.

Sources said Sardesai has said that the party has taken the initiative to bring like-minded and secular political parties under one banner since there is hardly any time left to prepare for the upcoming polls.
