Goa Forward Party’s Mandrem candidate Deepak Kalangutkar was seen on Monday moving from house to house in Morjim accompanied by his youthful supporters. He was received with enthusiasm by the residents of the area, cutting across all barriers of age, religion, caste and creed, stated the party in a press release.
Addressing the media during the day, he said, “I’m confident about my performance at the elections. It is not in my nature to underestimate others, but it can be seen that the people of Mandrem have decided to not fall prey to false promises being given by the other candidates." "The youth of Mandrem are with me and they have decided not to succumb to the lure of money. They have also decided to reject all the old wine and tainted defectors. I appeal to my voters to cast a vote for themselves, because only the Congress-GFP alliance can give a government of the people, for the people and by the people.”
Kalangutkar echoed his party’s slogan of ‘Chal, Ya Fuddem’ and said that ‘going forward’ meant striving for all-round development with a focus on the youth. He said that his party and the alliance would ensure proper and gainful employment for the youth, including self-employment. “For Mandrem, I will strive for a drastic change in the tourism industry so that local youth have scope for their livelihoods. My aim is to have clean and healthy tourism, get quality tourists and put a stop to all the illegal and unhealthy activities being promoted by the present government”, he said.
“My leader, Vijai Sardesai, has a clear vision about how Goa should develop in the future, keeping in mind the interests of each and every Goemkar and retaining the beauty of our beautiful Goa. He also has the ability to translate his vision into reality. I pledge to dedicate myself to this vision”, he said, while talking to the local press after the day’s campaign schedule.
