Lobo joins Goa Forward Mayem candidate for Chorao campaign

Goa Forward Party’s Mayem candidate Santosh Kumar Sawant continued his door-to-door campaign in Chorao on Tuesday.

In a press release, Goa Forward Party stated that it was his second day in the area, one day after former Minister and Congress candidate for Calangute, Michael Lobo, participated in Santosh’s Chorao campaign launch on Sunday.

As Congress & GFP workers together accompanied both Sawant and Lobo, it was a big boost for the united face of the alliance. Michael Lobo appealed to the voters of Chorao to unite and back Santosh Sawant, the release adds.

He said, “We should not think of anything else now other than the future of Goa. If Goa has to survive for our next generation, we must defeat the BJP. Bring their strength down to a single digit, less than 10, and this I’m sure the Goan people will do.”

In response to Lobo’s appeal, resident Maria Fernandes said, “We are with Santosh. He has helped us a lot during the Covid pandemic when the Government, our local MLA and BJP workers were nowhere to be seen. We want to save Goa for our children. People are not expressing themselves, but all of them have decided to bring the Congress-GFP to power.”

Michael Lobo called upon the citizens to play their part in throwing out this BJP government.

“For the last 3 terms, Mayemkars have voted for the BJP, because of which they are taking voters of Mayem for granted. The BJP MLAs who were elected by you have not done anything for you or this beautiful village of yours. Pramod Sawant thinks that he is the ruler of Goa and behaves like a dictator, instead of governing democratically. That is why I decided to quit the BJP, and it is time you also threw them out of power. I want to be part of a government that listens to the people and works for their welfare. Santosh, even though he was not an MLA, used to come to me, when I was Deputy Speaker and then a Minister. He would approach me with your grievances and be after me to solve these issues. It is time you became part of this movement to save Goa. Let us all decide to elect him by a huge margin and restore your dignity, which is being destroyed by the BJP”, he said while addressing the people of Mayem.
